Offshore Oscar’s picks for September 16 and 17, 2008
By: Offshore Oscar | September 15th, 2008
More great midweek matches are at hand, so let’s take a couple stabs at this Champion’s League thing while we are still betting with their money. Oktoberfest in Munich starts on Saturday, so some of my friends might go with a hunch bet to help celebrate.
Starting bankroll: 1000 units
Current bankroll: 1139 units
Tuesday
1 – In a very evenly matched Group D, no one will want to make mistakes in their first matches. Both Marseille and Liverpool are doing well early on in their domestic leagues and they might come out cautious.
20 units on the Marseille and Liverpool draw at 3.00 (so a draw gets us back 60 units)
Wednesday
2 – Looks like Group F is a two-horse race with Bayern Munich and Lyon. Romanian sides are tough at home, but look for Bayern to come out flying versus Steaua in Bucharest after not participating in Champions League last season.
30 units on Bayern to win at 1.83 (so a victory gets us back 54.9 units)

I think I’m actually, against my tendencies, going for a Liverpool win in this one. Marseille is a very good club, but Liverpool is on a high from the Man U match, and I think it will carry them one more game. 2-1.

That is one of my all time favorite photos. Looking at that I can almost forgive the Germans for WWII
