Offshore Oscar’s picks for August 30-31, 2008
By: Offshore Oscar | August 29th, 2008
Bankroll at the beginning of the week: 1000 “unitsâ€
Okay, here we go. For the first week we are going to play two solid home teams at square prices in the EPL, and we’ll kick off the Serie A with another in the Sunday night special.
English Premier League
WEST HAM UNITED(1.40 to 1) vs Blackburn
The Hammers return to Upton Park after getting thrashed at Man City, Dean Ashton could have a big scoring day. The fact that the lovely Keira Knightley is a lifelong fan of West Ham makes them easier to pick, but they look good either way.
West Ham for 30 units
(In case you are new to soccer betting, this means that when West Ham wins we’ll get back 1.4 units plus our original bet, so a win has us collecting 72 units for our 30-unit bet. If there is a tie or a Blackburn victory, we get nothing.)
EVERTON(1.10 to 1) vs Portsmouth
After losing at home on opening weekend, Everton should put away an awful (so far) Portsmouth. Arteta and Yakubu seem to have good chemistry between them.
Everton for 40 units
Serie A Sunday night opening weekend special
FIORENTINA(1.60 to 1) vs Juventus
Let’s go with the Black and White to start off the season with a bang in Tuscany.
Juventus for 30 units
