Offshore Oscar’s picks for Boxing Day, 2008
By: Offshore Oscar | December 25th, 2008
Fulham came through for us last weekend, but everything else fell apart, so we had a small loss. Boxing Day gives us another chance at some big scores, so I’ve taken a break from filling my Baby Jesus piñata with candy to put up some picks that should get us back above even to start the new year.
Original bankroll: 1,000 units
Current bankroll: 980.5 units
This week’s Offshore Oscar plays:
1 – With both at 22 points, Wigan and Newcastle have both had their flashes of brilliance so far this season. Zaki, Valencia and Heskey are playing well together and we’ll pick Wigan to protect home turf at JJB Stadium.
40 units Wigan to win at 2.20 (so a win gets us back 88 units)
2 – Sam Allardyce has breathed some new life in to the Rovers, they should be competitive against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Aston Villa are the “now” team, but Arsene Wenger will come up with a plan to keep competitive without Cesc Fabregas.
30-unit draw parlay – Sunderland-Blackburn at 3.20 into Aston Villa-Arsenal at 3.20 (so if both games end up draws we’ll get back 30 x 3.20 x 3.20 = 307.2 units)
3 – English Championship London parlay. QPR still have their eye on a promotion playoff spot and can take advantage of Charlton while they are down. Crystal Palace are surprising everyone this season and should handle Norwich City at home.
30-unit win parlay QPR at 2.75 and Crystal Palace at 1.73 (so if both win we’ll get back 30 x 2.75 x 1.73 = 142.7 units)
